Generator Systems

The change in magnetic flux density by electromagnetic induction creates an electric field.

A generator basically consists of two parts: a fixed part (stator) and a moving part (rotor). A magnet is attached to the drive shaft of the rotor and rotates with external mechanical energy. Several coils with iron cores are fixed in the stator. Electrical connections are located on the coils. If the magnet rotates in the generator, the Lorentz force acts on the charges and sets them in motion. This shift in charge causes a potential difference and produces an electrical voltage: alternating current is produced. This alternating current can then be fed into the electrical grid or converted to direct current via a commutator.
